VTL Vernetzte-Transport-Logistik GmbH
The VTL ‘CargoFamily’ is a leading general freight partnership and a provider of pan-European logistics solutions. From its headquarters in Fulda, VTL links together over 125 SME freight operators to form a comprehensive, intelligent logistics services network supported by leading edge IT systems.
One of the CargoFamily’s great strengths is the cohesion between all of its partners. The central handling operation, the HUB, in Fulda and the regional West, North and South HUBs are connected via fast, direct traffic links and transport general freight overnight on a 24/48-hour cycle. Through its local partners, VTL provides the individual service of a regional provider, plus the pan-continental logistics solutions of a Europe-wide network. The numerous regional services thus become a comprehensive supply chain offering.
VTL is symbolised by three meerkats: these agile mammals from southern Africa have become high-profile, endearing characters, who promote the VTL network and its partners via more than 4,300 consignments day after day.
Working in conjunction with the German Institute for Sustainability in Transportation and Logistics (INVL), VTL has become the first network of SME transport companies to work out its cargo operation’s CO2 emissions, also called Network Carbon Footprint, or NCF for short, which has been certified by TÜV Rheinland LGA Products GmbH in accordance with ISO 14064.
